a site-specific installation and performance conceived by Davide Balula & Élisa Pône, with homemade beverages fermented in collaboration with Tim Pierson. Pône & Balula have been long-time friends, with past collaborations involving sound, archives, fire, explosives, and various types of debris. For this joint presentation, their individual and co-signed works will feature artifacts from recent Portuguese forest fires, locally harvested organic matter, as well as cigarettes and gunpowder.

Davide Balula (b. 1978, Portugal) is a French-Portuguese artist living and working in New York. Balula’s practice blends together the organic and the synthetic, inviting the viewer’s participation and the natural environment to become active agents of his pieces. Since 2018 he has been developing custom A.I. models with writers such as Catherine Malabou and Charles Bernstein. Elisa Pône is a French artist (b.1979, France) based in Lisbon. She is interested in visual and sonic materials with a particular interest in ambivalent objects or situations and double bind effects.
