Figura Avulsa is pleased to present O Dia Abrasivo (The Abrasive Day) by Bruno Humberto, an exhibition featuring a site-specific performance — opening on Thursday, May 14, at 7.30PM.
Humberto installs works produced using sandpaper, to which he adds his own voice and other sculptural elements — all brought into the inner courtyard of Figura Avulsa. In the space, punctuated by its well/cistern, he proposes a composition that explores qualities such as suspension and enclosure.
Bruno Humberto is a transdisciplinary artist, musician, and curator based in Lisbon.
He studied and taught in the Performance Making master's program at Goldsmiths College, London.
His investigation focuses on the liminal zone where the inexhaustible plasticity of representation collides with the limits of matter. By embracing earthbound contingencies, he disrupts fragility with the absurd and turns it into a fearsome measuring tool.
O Dia Abrasivo (The Abrasive Day) will be on view by appointment for one week until May 17th, 2026.
